Thank you for your interest in CSG's State Archives and Research Service.

This a  fully searchable, easy to use online database that contains thousands of pages of materials on innovative state government programs, including research, analysis and 50-state surveys. Searchable by key word or topic, the database contains the full text of every report and publication produced by CSG since 1992. In addition, the search engine will expand your research beyond the STARS database to the Internet on request.

This service is FREE to elected and appointed officials and staff in state government. To access STARS, simply complete the State Government Officials and Staff Registration Form.

STARS is available on a subscription basis to the public and private sector companies and organizations. An annual subscription to STARS is $300. A CSG Associate member annual subscription is $150.  To order a subscription, please complete the Individuals and/or Private Sector Registration Form.

As confirmation of your order, we will e-mail you a username and password to access STARS. If you have any questions please call or e-mail Matt Tewksbary at
